sipuli (Finnish) /ˈsipuli/ n. onion
Borrowed from Late Old Swedish sipul ("red onion"), sipol, akin to German Zwiebel, ultimately from Late Latin cepulla, diminutive of Latin cepa

I am a 25-year-old creature from Finland, going by the name of Sipuli. (Some people shorten it to "Sip", and you can also use the english word "Onion", or come up with whatever nickname you'd like - I don't mind.) Having recently dropped out of university - I studied Finnish language and literature - I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life, and in the meanwhile trying to do my part in making the world a little bit nicer place for everyone. This site is a dump for things that interest me, an art piece to represent me as a person, and an excercise in html and css, which I knew next to nothing about before I opened my first tutorial just a few days before writing this.

Here's a non-exhaustive list of fandoms I've been more or less normal about in my lifetime. Some of these I've found very recently, others I have been into for 10+ years:

• Portal (GLaDOS is one of my all time favorite characters, definitely my #1 villain)
• Undertale (and Deltarune)
• Evillious Chronicles
• Vocaloid in general (and other vocal synths as well) (my favorites are Gumi and Teto)
• Outer Wilds (please play this game it will change your life and I'm not even exaggerating)
• Minecraft (and Minecraft youtubers (DSMP was one hell of a hyperfixation (don't talk to me about c!Fundy I will talk about c!Fundy for hours you have been warned)))
• Puella Magi Madoka Magica
• Epic The Musical
• Black Butler
• The Hunger Games
• Artemis Fowl
• Discworld (but I'm not very well-versed in it - I'm actually currently reading through it for the first time. It's on this list because I read the Tiffany Aching books and a few other ones as a kid and I think they permanently changed something in my brain)
• ASOIAF (Sansa Stark and Jaime Lannister are also among my favorite characters of all time)
• MCU
• Needy Streamer Overload
• Baldur's Gate 3
• The Last Of Us
• Subnautica
• Parties Are For Losers (if you actually know this series we need to be friends)
• Neon White (this is such a cool game that I need more of my friends to play so I can crush their times on the leaderboard)

Also, some things I like that I don't really count as fandoms but am similarly normal about:

• ARGs, analog horror, general creepy stuff (one day I will make an ARG myself, once I figure out how to be smart enough for that)
• linguistics and languages (languages are super interesting and especially translation is really really fascinating to me)
• writing (I write both original fic and fanfic; I've written for a bunch of fandoms but the only fics on my current ao3 account are for DSMP)
• solarpunk, sustainability, mending (I've been trying to learn actually useful skills like mending and gardening, but I also just really like the aesthetic)

I'm also a hobbyist translator! I love linguistics and languages in general, but translation as a science and an art form holds a special place in my heart. I have a folder full of lyrics to Finnish songs translated into English, a project I originally started for my German second cousin who's learning Finnish, but which will probably find its way here too at some point. I'm also translating one of my all time favorite novels, Karkkipäivä by Markus Nummi, into English, simply for fun and English practice.
